The Young Music Society is dedicated to providing musical opportunities for Canberra Musicians who are members, including instrument hire and workshops   

coming up:-
Winter School
The Society will run a Winter School for Primary School aged students from Monday 11 July 2011 to Friday 15 July 2011. This program offers a variety of musical and fun activities.
Spring Jazz School
The Society will run a workshop for High School aged students from Tuesday 4 October 2011 to Friday 7 October 2011. This is a opportunity for students to learn about Jazz and Improvisation.

Electric Jellyfish reunite for a rare Australian tour this month for the launch of their 12-inch self-titled vinyl,released last year through US label Twin Lakes Records. Having toured both Australia and the USA extensively since 2007,Electric Jellyfish have been described as tapping into Australia’s “three-decade wellspring of loud,harsh post-punk blues-inversion” (Jack Rabid,The Big Takeover). Incredible psych-punk band!

The Cope Street Parade features four dynamic musicians combining a love of traditional jazz with the energy and virtuosity of the 21st century. With an enormous repertoire of jazz classics,in addition to
thrilling compositions from the performers,the Cope Street Parade can melt your heart with a tender ballad before launching into gypsy-swing guaranteed to bring dancers to their feet. Embracing influences such as Louis Armstrong,Geoff Bull,Fats Waller and Django Reinhardt,they create there own unique style of Australian swing music.

Sydney based songstress Sam Buckingham brings her enchanting live show to The Front for an intimate night of acoustic storytelling and song. Four times finalist in the International Songwriting Competition,Buckingham has recently announced she’ll be opening for Washington in Adelaide and Perth on her upcoming national tour. Supported by Evan Buckley- Buckley’s writing is a real reflection of finding life in the cynical corners of our culture. His debut album –You’re Quite A
Forest –is best digested as a commentary to the transient nature of hope.

Michael Elisha Bones is returning to the Canberra music scene with his new,solo(ish) musical project. Performing songs born from a more melancholy muse,he will be joined by talented local folk singer/songwriter Shobana Narayanan.

co-conspiratorial national road trip of sorts,the TWO WRITER TYPES TOUR.
