
On Sunday 13 July at 12:30PM, the Reel McCoy Film Group is showing the 1971 film “The Go-Between” in which a young boy becomes a messenger for a secret love affair between a wealthy young woman and a farmer. This British period drama explores themes of social class, innocence, betrayal and the impact of the past on the present. It is directed by Joseph Losey and stars Julie Christie and Alan Bates; the screenplay by playwright Harold Pinter was based on the novel by LP Hartley. The film won the Palme d’Or at the 1971 Cannes Film Festival.
